To achieve the best measurement performance, it is important to use pressure sensors correctly. The proper installation position of a pressure transmitter on a process pipeline depends on the medium being measured. Following the guidelines below will help ensure accurate and reliable measurements.

Pressure Sensor Installation Guidelines

Prevent the transmitter from coming into contact with corrosive or excessively hot media.
Prevent sludge, sediment, or debris from accumulating inside the impulse line.
When measuring liquid pressure, the pressure tapping point should be located on the side of the process pipeline to prevent sediment from entering and accumulating.
When measuring gas pressure, the pressure tapping point should be located at the top of the process pipeline. The transmitter should also be installed above the pipeline so that any accumulated condensate can easily flow back into the process pipeline.
Install the impulse tubing in an area where the ambient temperature remains as stable as possible.
When measuring steam or other high-temperature media, use a cooling device such as a condensate loop (pigtail siphon) or other suitable condenser. Ensure that the operating temperature of the transmitter does not exceed its specified limit.
In winter or freezing conditions, outdoor transmitters must be protected against freezing. Prevent the liquid inside the pressure port or impulse line from freezing and expanding, as this may damage the sensor.
When measuring liquid pressure, install the transmitter in a location where it is protected from liquid impact or water hammer, which may cause overpressure and damage the sensor.
